Former WWE Champion reveals the only condition upon which he’d be willing to wrestle Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Rock returning to WWE for WrestleMania XL was something the fans would lean back on for a long time. Even though his sojourn came to a halt after Cody Rhodes finished his story with Roman Reigns , The People’s Champ has vowed he’d come back soon. Once he does, the 52-year-old wouldn’t have to look any further than former WWE Champion AJ Styles .

In a recent conversation with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Phenomenal One discussed a dream scenario where he could find himself in the same ring as The Rock. However, Styles had a condition. He said the match would only work for him if Dwayne Johnson ‘s the babyface, while The Georgia Pitbull channels his evil side. AJ affirmed that he doesn’t want to play a mediocre heel on television.

History has proven that AJ Styles had been well off being a bad guy. His ongoing stint is along those lines, but he’s been plagued with a number of losses. The 46-year-old recently pushed Cody Rhodes to his limits in their showdown for the Undisputed WWE title at Backlash. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion dug deep into his arsenal but couldn’t beat Cody.

I’m interested, but only if that means The Rock is turning babyface. I’m not interested in being a mediocre bad guy. I want to bring this to a whole new level. AJ Styles on facing The Rock in WWE

Last Friday on SmackDown, the former OC member went down in a first-round match of the King of the Ring tournament. Styles’ woes continued as he drew 14-time World Champion Randy Orton and ended up losing.

With that being said, the former TNA star finds himself in the middle of nowhere. And if he’s gunning for that showing against The Rock, it’d take a herculean effort from Styles to be on the same plane as The Final Boss would likely be.

AJ Styles wants to be booed even louder than Dominik Mysterio

It might sound amiss, but AJ Styles wants to emulate Dominik Mysterio. But in what sense? As he revealed in the aforementioned interview with SI, the Grand Slam Champion is yearning to surpass the amount of boos Dom’s been able to garner ever since he joined The Judgment Day.

What a compliment it is for Rey Mysterio‘s son! What AJ’s seeking might be a double-edged sword. At this point in his career, he’s a venerated figure. The fans adore him to a point where it’s a stretch to even think that they’d boo him out of arenas.

Meanwhile, Dom is a braggart who is nearly half Styles’ age. “Dirty” Dom is currently injured but has not been taken off television. On the other hand, it needs to be seen how The Phenomenal recuperates from the setback he had on SmackDown last week.
