Manchester United hold on for three points in our final home game of the season.
Kobbie Mainoo’s opener was the difference at the break before a second half that had no shortage of goals.
Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon caused problems for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and equalised within minutes of the half-time restart.
We had lead again through Amad Diallo’s stunning strike, just before the hour, and Rasmus Hojlund scored minutes after coming on.
Lewis Hall curled home from distance to make for a nervy ending.
United hung on to win 3-2.
Without further ado, here are our player ratings:
Andre OnanaMade two saves but his distribution was questionable at times, especially for Gordon’s goal. 6
Aaron Wan-BissakaStruggled against Gordon. 5
CasemiroMuch better tonight than in his two previous outings. Made a goal line clearance at 1-0. 7
Cool as a breeze against Alexander Isak. 7
Diogo DalotDecent performance. Didn’t put a foot wrong, but didn’t pull up any trees either. 6
Sofyan AmrabatThat’s two decent displays back-to-back from the Moroccan. Protected the defence and kept us ticking in the middle. Could make a surprise argument to start the FA Cup final against Man City. 8
Kobbie MainooOpened the scoring and linked up superbly with Fernandes in the middle. Great maturity on the ball. 7
Made a huge difference to the team as expected. He brought the creativity that we lacked against Crystal Palace and Arsenal. 8
Scott McTominayCombative without doing a lot. 5
AmadA threat on the right flank, which is not something we’ve had very often this season. He assisted Mainoo before scoring a beauty. 8
Alejandro GarnachoDidn’t threaten Trippier enough. 5
First appearance in three months. It didn’t take him long to win some aerial duels. 6
Marcus RashfordGot some much needed minutes under his belt. 5
Rasmus HojlundScored minutes after coming on with a well-taken finish. 7
Christian EriksenDidn’t have enough time to have an impact on the game. 5
