Chiefs rookie jersey numbers revealed: What numbers will every 2024 NFL draft pick wear?
Sara Diggins/American-Statesman via USA TODAY NETWORK

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially assigned jersey numbers to their 2024 NFL draft picks.

The team announced on X (formerly Twitter), that their entire rookie draft class had been assigned their jersey numbers ahead of Chiefs rookie minicamp this weekend. WR Xavier Worthy had already leaked his jersey number on social media, but the other six players are now public.

  • Xavier Worthy: 1
  • Kingsley Suamataia: 76
  • Jared Wiley: 12
  • Hunter Nourzad: 60
  • Kamal Hadden: 17
  • C.J. Hanson: 61

Worthy's jersey number means the end of an era

WR Xavier Worthy is assigned the No. 1 jersey, which has belonged to free agent RB Jerick McKinnon for the last three years. It's still possible that Kansas City will bring the veteran back, but it seems like they wouldn't have given out his jersey number if they intended to do so soon. The writing is on the wall that McKinnon won't be a Chief in 2024.

This is the number that Worthy wore for the past several seasons at the University of Texas. He and Hollywood Brown wear No. 1 and No. 5, so cue Mitch Holthus coming up with a clever "15 to 1-5" catchphrase.

Facts and info on every other jersey number

LT Kingsley Suamataia's No. 76 jersey was most recently worn by Chiefs free agent LT Prince Tega Wanogho. Before that, it was worn by Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. Suamataia previously wore the No. 78 jersey at BYU, but that number is retired in Kansas City, after being worn by Hall of Fame LB Bobby Bell.

TE Jared Wiley gets the No. 12 jersey, which was most recently worn by Super Bowl hero Mecole Hardman. It's admittedly a weird number for a tight end, but he also wore No. 19 at TCU. Maybe he'll switch to No. 19 in the future if the Chiefs part ways with Kadarius Toney.

S Jaden Hicks gets the No. 21 jersey, which was most recently worn by S Mike Edwards in 2023. The season before that it was worn by CB Trent McDuffie, who gave up the number to wear the No. 22 jersey worn by his deceased brother. Hicks wore No. 25 in college at Washington State. That number is currently being worn by RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire

OL Hunter Nourzad gets No. 60. Patrick Omameh and Ryan Hunter were the two most recent players to wear this jersey number in K.C., but this is a solid number for an interior offensive lineman. Nourzad wore the No. 64 at Penn State and Cornell, but that number currently belongs to LT Wanya Morris.

CB Kamal Hadden gets No. 17, which was worn by WR Richie James in the 2023 NFL season. He wore No. 5 with the Tennessee Volunteers. This is the first time a defensive player has worn that during the Andy Reid era after also being worn by WRs Mecole Hardman, Chris Conley, and Donnie Avery.

OL C.J. Hanson gets No. 61, which also could mean the end of an era for Kansas City. Last year it was worn by former Chiefs starting C Austin Reiter, who remains a free agent. This is a killer offensive line number. It was worn by Stefen Wisniewski, Mitch Morse, and Rodney Hudson, all during the Andy Reid era. Hanson wore No. 69 in college with Holy Cross.
